Job Summary
A strategic leadership role oversees and implements policies, programs, and initiatives related to employee relations and performance management. Serve as subject matter expert in revising, creating, and interpreting employment policies and procedures and developing best practices and initiatives for effective performance management, performance coaching, and conflict management best practices. Champion a dynamic, effective relationship culture by incorporating assessments and making data-driven decisions to enhance the work environment. Lead a team in driving consistent policy interpretation and application of workplace policies and provide other support as necessary for championing and driving a culture of proactive employment best practices and coaching, accountability, inclusiveness, and fairness. Identify trends and opportunities across GT, developing responsive and proactive initiatives to support GT as a continued employer of choice.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Create an organizational strategy to ensure proactive and effective performance consulting is administered and communicated regularly to campus leadership, HR Partners, faculty, staff, and students. Develop a mechanism to analyze data, identify trends, and provide data-driven insights to executive leadership. Job Duty 2 - Provide strategic vision, manage, and lead performance management initiatives for the Institute in alignment with the GT strategic plan, organizational values, and relationships. Oversee the performance management policies and procedureschampion performance management best practices. Provide expertise and support in designing, developing, and implementing a talent review process that will assist with aligning organizational strategies to individual and team goals. Guide the development of training plans and collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance the performance management process by leveraging climate assessments and Gallup Q12 data and methodologies. Establish, implement, monitor, and report performance evaluation metrics to include trending data and insights for senior leadership. Job Duty 3 - Develop, implement, and administer policies, procedures, programs, and resources to ensure a positive, respectful work environment, resolve employee conflicts, drive performance excellence, and foster a productive and engaged culture. Identify and oversee employment-related systems technology. Responsible for overseeing, tracking, and reporting on flexible work arrangements agreements. Job Duty 4 - Direct and manage the day-to-day functions of the Employee Relations unit. Lead a team of employee relations consultants to ensure effective performance excellence. Implement strategic performance management consulting strategies, performance coaching, and workshops. Ensure thorough investigations of employee workplace complaints and timely preparation of reviews, investigative reports, and/or fact-finding summaries with analysis, findings, and recommended disciplinary or corrective actions. Supervise, manage, train, and evaluate staff. Job Duty 5 - Provide one-on-one consulting with senior Institute leaders and Faculty Affairs and engage relevant stakeholders in capability-building conversations. Work with the CHRO and executive leaders to support institute strategies, objectives, and goals. Provide advice and consultation to managers on organizational policy and process matters with a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, ethics, initiative, and judgment. Job Duty 6 - Maintain unit budget and prepare monthly productivity reports for the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and executive leadership. Develop ad hoc management surveys/reports related to metrics and analytics. Maintain and report exit survey responses and conduct analysis of turnover trends. Job Duty 7 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Experience Ten or more years of job-related experience, including at least five years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications Juris Doctorate. Additional Preferred Qualifications Preferred Certifications, Licenses or Permits: Member of the Georgia State Bar, HR Certification, AA/EEO Certification, and/or Mediation Certification. Proposed Salary
Pay Range: $127,257-$157,000/yr. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE This job requires advanced knowledge of employment laws and practices, preferred experience in higher education, public sector, government, or related industry. SKILLS Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. ABILITIES Ability to serve as a subject matter expert, with experience handling complex cases and matters; experience leading a team to meet institutional priorities about conducting due diligence into employee relations issues, advising on best practices in managing employment issues, and delivering excellent customer service; demonstrated strong work ethic, initiative and self-motivation, dedication to completion of work projects, ability to collaborate and work in a team, and a passion for driving a culture of belonging, and employee engagement; ability to lead and inspire a team through actions consistent with Institute core values, including open communication, inclusive practices, and courageous decision-making and counsel. Must possess sound judgment to address and resolve conflict while preserving dignity and esteem of others involved; ability to operate with discretion; ability to deliver services with a realistic/pragmatic approach based on sound judgment - balancing the needs of the Institute with the values, policies, and laws under which the Institute operates; ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
