Almac Group is currently seeking a Design Manager, Data Services for our Lansdale, PA location. The Design Manager, Data Services fulfill a critical business function on operational project assignments. A Design Manager, Data Services collaboratively develops data transfer specifications as a core function for operational project assignments that result in a clear understanding of project deliverables. Represents Almac Group as a knowledgeable consultant to the customer by recommending and outlining data transfer project solutions. The Design Manager, Data Services contributes to the success fo assigned projects by preforming collaborative activities related to assigned software development and application solutions. The key result is that the teams meet project objectives and solutions are delivered on time with quality. The Desing Manager, Data Services facilitates project success through identifying challenges and solutions that promote inter-departmental collaboration such as clarifying scope, expectations, suggestions leading to quality, time, and cost savings, reducing risk, and improving communication for the team in conjunction with the study specific project manager. The Design Manager, Data Services has the responsibility to elicit. analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the project stakeholders, including customers and end users which result in business processes that continually promote project success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Operational Functions: Supports study specific Project Managers through client meetings (internal and external) as required by project needs. Writes and / or reviews (provides instructional feedback on) data transfer user requirement specifications (DT URS). Identifies and works to resolve technical and process issues to ensure client deadlines are met. Follows applicable SOPs and WIs.
  • Project Management Functions: Oversee deliverables to timeline milestones and communicate with the study specific PM regarding timelines and deliverable status as requested.
  • Production Support: Troubleshoot to assist resolution of production support issues. This includes manual file updates, as required, for EDC integrations. May include troubleshooting of issues to assist with resolution when study level PMs are stuck with the explanation being provided from Development support.
  • Corporate Project / Client Standard Functions: Supports client and Almac global DT projects when requested in accordance with business needs following approved company methodology.
  • Direction and Coordination: Identifies ways to resolve both technical and operational challenges to strategies. Ensures that the functional requirements meet user's needs and are consistent with the objectives and scope of the project. Safeguards progress and evaluates day to day tasks and consequences for project success. Consults the QA department to ensure project compliance.
  • Requirements Management: Interacts with internal and external contacts to obtain, clarify, and verify the business needs will be addressed in the proposed solution. Ensures the requirements will meet the client's needs, while remaining sustainable and profitable for the business.
  • Communication: Interacts at all levels of the organization to exchange project information, communicate problems and resolutions, and obtain approvals. Prepares for and attends meetings with internal and external clients. Attends other project and operational meetings as necessary. Ensures communication of project rollout/implementation occurs.
  • Continuous Improvement: In concert with Technical Solutions team members will identify and facilitate the implementation of Data Services tools, processes, best practices, and efficiency improvements. The Design Manager, Data Services develops collaborative, practical solutions with staff, and will do so cross-functionally as needed. This is accomplished through fostering a culture of problem solving and continuous improvements in efficiency and quality. Ideas and concerns are funneled through lines of communication between department touch points that lead to improved solution designs.
  • Training and Mentoring: Provide, establish or acquire technical and operational training, advice, guidance, and recommendations as required. Translate technical requirements for non-technical personnel. Train personnel at all levels of the organization as required.
  • Supports Administrative Goals by:

    • Recognize trends in client requirements
    • Suggest business supportable solutions based upon these trends
    • Complies with administrative and regulatory requirements
    • Establish, maintain and encourage high quality standards
    • Attend company and staff meetings


  • Promotes Teamwork by:

    • Meeting individual and company goals as established
    • Adhering to company and department policies
    • Work in concert with Technical Solutions staff to identify project deliverable roles and activities-who is responsible, who needs to be informed, who needs to be consulted, and who needs to be accountable for project deliverables, activities, and tasks
    • Fosters a positive culture by limiting dialogue that promotes negative views of colleagues outside the realm of constructive feedback.


  • Maintains Quality service by following organization standards

    • Implements and manages methodologies, documentation, project records, policies, procedures, strategies and standards as required.




Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:


  • Associate's degree or Development Diploma with minimum 1 year experience in a technical project management disciplined role.
  • 1+ years of experience in a technical or project management disciplined role.
  • 1+ years of experience managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • 1 year of experience understanding client requirements
  • Experience with either: Project Management, Design Management, a technical discipline such as Development or Testing or if limited, Supplemental IRT experience such as that garnered in the role of Project Specialist or Project Coordinator.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to apply project management principles and practices, estimate resource requirements, define milestones and deliverables, monitor activities, evaluate and report on project accomplishments
  • Ability to think critically and work independently.
  • Ability to perform multiple project tasks
  • Ability to be detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy and delivery of high-quality projects
  • Effective combination of people skills and assertiveness



Preferred Experience / Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in a technical or project management disciplined role understanding client requirements
  • 1+ years of experience managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • 1+ years of experience gathering and writing technical requirements
  • Use of Requirements Management Tools and Processes, e.g. Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), SharePoint, etc.
  • 3 years of experience communicating directly with clients
  • Experience within the clinical technology, life sciences or software industries setting
  • Understanding of use of IXRS in Clinical Trials
  • Knowledge of the clinical trial process
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC)
