ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN HEALTH INFORMATICS AND ANALYTICS (Tenure-Track, 12-month) February 19, 2025 The School of Public Health at Samford University invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Health Informatics and Analytics. This tenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment and will begin in August 2025. The School of Public Health is housed in the College of Health Sciences to include the Moffett and Sanders School of Nursing, Mc Whorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Health Professions. The College offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with a focus on inter-professional education that reflects todays team approach to health care delivery and professional practice. The Department of Healthcare Administration and Informatics in the School of Public Health offers 7-degree programs and 2 minors through an interprofessional curriculum. For more information, see the Departments web page: https://www.samford.edu/publichealth/healthcare-administration Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold either a doctoral degree in Healthcare Analytics, Healthcare Informatics, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related applied field from an institutionally accredited university (or equivalent) or be an ABD candidate who will have their doctoral degree in hand by August 1, 2025. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the community, university, and discipline. The applicant must have knowledge and experience to teach health informatics & analytics courses related to infrastructure, digital health, data design & analysis, visual analytics & predictive modeling, and health data mining and analytics. Certification as a Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or other related specialty is preferred but not required. Experience with CAHIIM accreditation is preferred but not required. To qualify for the rank of associate professor, a successful candidate will have at least 6 years of previous academic experience in higher education with a demonstrated record of scholarship, teaching, and service. Responsibilities Responsibilities include fulfilling teaching requirements in health informatics and analytics to undergraduate and graduate students as assigned by the Department Chair; advising and mentoring students; maintaining scholarly and service contributions as a faculty member; program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, curriculum development; and recruitment. A commitment to academic excellence in pedagogy is expected, along with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners.
