Tool & Die Maker I

Position Summary:

The Tool & Die Maker performs machining operations and bench work to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, attachments, mold gauges of complicated design to close tolerances and finish requirements. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of machining techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Manufacture and repair of production tooling, fixturing, and gages.
• Manual turning, milling, drilling, pressing, tapping, grinding, etc.
• Conduct fit and function tests on parts to ensure accuracy and performance.
• Operate and program CNC machines using software such as Mastercam and NX CAM
• Collaborate with engineering team to identify material requirements and design specifications.
• Inspection and measurements of machined parts
• Bench work and assembly
• Heat treatments, sawing, hot forming, and sand blasting
• Embrace/implement continuous improvement and lean principles in all activities
• Maintain department safety and housekeeping standards
• Ensure compliance with Quality Control Manual (QCM)

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or Trade school preferred (certificate in machine shop trade school a plus)
• 2+ years in the machining trade; building shop aids, fixtures, tools and gages per sketches and blueprints
• Strong knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques
• Ability to use handheld measuring tools
• Ability to read and interpret machining drawings
• Ability to read and interpret GD&T
