- Lead and initially manage real estate outsourced accounting engagements for clients in various sectors, including residential, commercial, and real estate investment firms.
- Assist in building the firm's, and your, reputation within the Southern California real estate space by being deeply involved in various real estate organizations and by working with our marketing team to provide consistent thought leadership in social media campaigns and public speaking at events.
- Partner with our other service line experts in real estate including areas such as tax, assurance, systems, dashboarding, automation and more to create and execute a go to market strategy.
- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities for new client engagements and service expansion within the real estate niche.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering proactive, insightful financial advice tailored to the real estate sector.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, financial analysis reports, waterfall reporting, and the interaction needed with our tax group relative to their preparation of tax filings specific to the real estate industry.
- Provide clients with strategic financial guidance, including cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and investment analysis.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including lease accounting standards (ASC 842), property tax requirements, and other real estate-related financial regulations.
- Develop and implement best practices for real estate accounting processes, including professionalized monthly accounting using leading edge workflow tools, and investor reporting.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting the real estate sector and share insights with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of internal training materials, methods and knowledge resources focused on real estate accounting.
- Regarded as a Subject Matter Expert within business unit and shares knowledge
- Recognize business opportunities for our clients and for CBIZ
- Manage staff on engagement deliverables; complete reviews as a member of the final review team to ensure quality control standards are met
- Responsible for new client development in partnership with upper management; participate in client meetings and presentation and proposal development
- Understand client's Qualified Plan needs
- Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively
- Drive a team environment; demonstrate support of management decisions and builds a positive culture

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in accounting, Taxation or related field
- Strong knowledge of real estate financial reporting, and industry-specific regulations. Familiarity of borrowing strategies and working with insurance related to property holdings preferred. Familiarity with CAMS and CAMS reconciliation preferred.
- Solid awareness of tax compliance for real estate oriented companies
- Proficiency in accounting software commonly used in the real estate industry (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, QuickBooks).
- Position is expected to be in the office at least 3 days a week.
- Must be a team player and be strong at building relationships.
- Passion for the real estate industry.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree required
- 8 years' experience in public accounting or related field
- 5 years supervisory
- Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
- Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
- Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Must be able to travel based on business needs
The annual salary target for this job in this market is $125,000-160,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
