Job Description Summary: The Senior Director is responsible for leading all aspects pertaining to the cost optimization of inpatient and outpatient medications, durable medical equipment and pharmacy associated supplies with revenue >$1B across all sites across the system. The management of supply chain is critical to our success and goals of ensuring that we supply most cost effective option to our patients at the right time. The senior director will be the senior lead to design, build, and execute optimized plans/processes to enable unparalleled pharmacy expense results employing continuous quality improvement strategies and evidenced based modeling leading to best-in-class pharmacy supply chain operations. The Senior Director of Supply Chain will serve will lead BMCHS strategy in ensures the most efficient and effective management of pharmacy supply chain Position: Senior Director, 340b Optimization Department: Pharmacy Schedule: Exempt, Full-Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
1.Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy that aligns with the organization's overarching business goals and objectives. Oversee the development and execution of short- and long-term goals for pharmacy services, ensuring alignment with the broader Pharmacy Supply Chain strategy. Design and implement supply chain frameworks that support evolving business strategies, adapt to changing market conditions, capitalize on new opportunities, and drive cost optimization initiatives.
2.Operational Alignment and Oversight
Oversee purchasing across all inpatient and outpatient areas, including clinic sites, infusion centers, and retail pharmacies system-wide, to drive optimization and efficiency. Partner with outpatient and inpatient purchasing leads to align operations across the pharmaceutical supply chain. Collaborate with key pharmacy stakeholders to provide detailed and actionable drug cost insights that inform strategic decision-making. This may include:
Managing wholesaler and GPO accounts to ensure accurate alignment of expense classes, cost centers, and cost accounting for purchasing and inventory transactions. Supporting pricing strategies and negotiations with payors. Redesigning operational workflows to enhance supply chain efficiency.
3.Supply Chain Optimization
Uphold industry best practices for pharmaceutical product sourcing and contracting to ensure optimal outcomes. Lead initiatives to identify and implement programs or process changes that optimize pharmaceutical costs, including: Setting and achieving cost reduction targets.
Analyzing contracting opportunities, calculating potential savings, and communicating results to leadership. Directly negotiating with drug manufacturers as appropriate to secure advantageous terms. Managing vendor relationships, including ensuring contract compliance, leveraging GPO contracting resources, monitoring vendor performance, and coordinating timely payments. Ensuring full compliance with all DSCSA requirements and guidelines. Routinely identifying and executing clinically equivalent NDC switches to drive cost savings. Maximizing the organization's savings through the 340B program while maintaining compliance, thereby enabling expanded care for vulnerable populations, including evaluating Third Party Administrators (TPAs). Assessing and vetting additional drug cost optimization products or services (e.g., automation solutions) and collaborating with management to determine feasibility and implementation. Establishing and monitoring key metrics to benchmark effectiveness and using data-driven insights to foster continuous process improvement.
4.340B Program Compliance and Optimization
Collaborate with the Director of 340B Pharmacy Compliance to ensure compliance with 340B regulations and optimize program performance across all BMC sites designated as covered entities. Additionally, strategically pursue opportunities to expand the 340B service line where appropriate. Oversee all aspects of 340B outpatient utilization, working closely with key stakeholders to maximize participation and ensure the effective use of 340B-priced products across all qualified outpatient settings. Lead the monitoring, execution, and continuous refinement of the 340B strategy while ensuring full compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
5.Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing medications and their use. Oversee adherence to Joint Commission medication management standards and National Patient Safety Goals, ensuring the organization maintains all required accreditations and licenses. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures, ensuring strict compliance and consistent application.

Advanced degree (MS, MBA or Pharm D.) is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Lean Six Sigma or comparable performance improvement certification preferred 340b ACE preferred EXPERIENCE:
Ten to fifteen years of experience in supply chain management Must be proficient with wholesaler ordering systems, inventory management, GPO reports, and contract compliance reports
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
Expertise in 340B, GPO, and WAC costs, ordering, and dispensing Strong financial / analytical skills Strong / exceptional problem solving and continuous improvement mindset and skills with proven track record) Effective interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with hospital staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, colleagues, and others. Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines Leadership ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff Experience with Microsoft programs (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and web browsers. Experience with Pharmacy Management software or ability to learn is required Must possess self-management skills and require little to no supervision. This person must be a self-starter, self-motivating, have a strong work ethic and must have the ability to identify issues or opportunities that require attention and change Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information Knowledge of laws and regulation re: pharmacy
