We are currently seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer for our manufacturing facility in Racine, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, product launch cost, product cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing product designs for manufacturability, process improvement, application of innovative technologies and cost reduction opportunities in selected areas.



Responsibilities

    Manufacturing process expert and liaison between engineering, operations, and logistics teams, ensuring complete NPI process from design to manufacturing. Maintain strong relationships and open communication with various Platform and Engineering personnel, Manufacturing Launch and Unit Managers and Manufacturing Engineers to enhance product quality, production output, and schedule compliance, while minimizing costs.
  • Represent the plant while working with Engineering teams prior to NPI launch to ensure the design to manufacturing is in place and products are manufacturable.
  • Use advanced engineering techniques such as DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) & FMEA to develop and define manufacturing processes
  • Develop manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments, which facilitate the definition and specification of the assembly processes.
  • Develop and implement capital projects to improve material flow, reduce floor space requirements, and reduce costs. Assist in the development of justification for new capital equipment and lead the installation and startup of the new equipment.
  • Coordinates design reviews and resolution of design issues with both engineering and manufacturing teams to meet program objectives and milestones. Reviews designs for cost improvement opportunities and initial make versus buy recommendations.
  • Assists plant team with impacts of new designs on facilities, equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to increase utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities.
  • Evaluates worker productivity and recommends design improvements to increase personnel efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions. Drives improvements in product and process design to facilitate improved plant ergonomics and safety.
  • Resolves technical problems and recommends design and production improvements. Serve as a resource for cause/effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning.

The annual salary for this role is $72,750 - $106,700 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)



Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 6 or more years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Quality Engineering, and/or Manufacturing Supervisory roles.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong organizational and planning abilities
  • Proven ability to be a team player
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement philosophies
  • Demonstrate ability to build relationships and act as a liaison with engineering and manufacturing plant teams to develop products that are completely manufacturable.
  • NPI experience using a disciplined product launch process, i.e. Stage-Gate.
  • Experience in machining, fabrication, welding, assembly methods and technologies
  • Experience using virtual tools and systems
  • Advanced engineering techniques such as DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) & FMEA
  • Experience in a low volume production manufacturing environment in heavy equipment
  • Fundamental knowledge of Pro-E, AutoCAD and / or Team Center
  • Knowledge of advanced quality and design techniques
  • Supervisory or mentorship experience
