Organizational Unit Overview
We are involved in Resident and Medical Student education for learners from Brody School of Medicine as well as other students who rotate with us. Infectious Diseases crosses multiple disciplines and is affected by many different systems. Our goals include helping learners see how different types of infections may affect these different systems, how to approach diagnostics, and possible therapies.
Our clinical services include evaluations by referral for a wide number of conditions in the Infectious Disease, Immunology, and Travel Medicine fields. For example, these include children with complex infections that involve multi-drug resistant bacteria, fever of unknown origin, infections needing longer term antibiotics such as mycobacterium, Cystic Fibrosis associated infections, unusual and opportunistic infections, zoonoses, basic immune deficiencies, and HIV.
Job Duties
The employee will be providing social work professional services to clients with HIV/ AIDS who have complex medical, behavioral, and social needs at the East Carolina HIV Program in the Division of Infectious Disease.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Three years experience to include case management, client assessments and referrals, and psycho-social support and counseling. Experience with HIV+ clients and clients with other infectious diseases are highly desirable. A working knowledge of the Ryan White program is preferred.
