Job Description

The Senior Director, Global Interchange Strategy Center of Excellence will be a key member of the Global Interchange team, overseeing global interchange programs, governance and compliance. This is a senior leadership role that will involve frequent collaboration with global and regional Interchange & Pricing teams as well as key cross functional partners in Sales, Product, Finance, Legal, Risk and Client Services. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker that is able to take wholistic approach to Visa's interchange strategies and execute the implementation of key strategic initiatives, leading a team that does the same.

The position will report to the Senior Vice President, Global Interchange and be based at Visa's offices in Foster City, CA. This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 3+ set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 60% or more of the time based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strategy and best practices - create strategic alignment and best practices across regional teams, develop frameworks that regional teams can use to roll out new interchange programs and ensure consistency in approach, provide consultation and support to regional teams on new interchange programs, provide thought leadership and structure on interchange elements of global deals, oversee key global projects to drive decisions in a timely manner
  • Innovation and process improvement - evolve our ways of working by moving from manual processes to automated processes, oversee adoption of new technologies to streamline decision making and ongoing reporting requirements, drive continuous process improvement
  • Governance and compliance - oversee and evolve Visa's interchange compliance and governance frameworks, conduct regular risk assessments in coordination with internal compliance, risk and audit teams, produce regular reports on compliance and governance activities including progress and outcomes for senior leadership
  • Leadership support - mentor, manage and coach a 10-person team, assist in talent management and organization design, develop curriculum and materials for training and development of global interchange team
  • Talent acquisition - bring in top and diverse talent, minimize the time from job opening to hiring

This is a hybrid position based in Foster City, CA. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

- 12+ years of work experience, ideally in payments, management consulting, corporate strategy, pricing, banking or finance

- Relevant university degree in finance, economics or related disciplines

- Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry preferred, with knowledge of interchange a plus

- Global or multinational business experience strongly preferred

- Ability to independently lead and manage projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems

- Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels

- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor

- Ability to quickly assess an opportunity's potential, leveraging fact-based analyses and industry experience

- Experience working with economic theories, scenario analysis and competitive assessments. Knowledge of payments industry revenue drivers a plus

- Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior managers, external business partners, and industry regulators

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with functional and regional leaders within Visa

- Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, PowerBI)

- Commitment to continuous training and development of employees

- Self-starter, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 200,000.00 to 312,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
