Position Summary The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico seeks a postdoctoral fellow with research experience in a topic within C*-algebras, such as K-theory or semiprojectivity, that is connected to current research in topological physics. This appointment may be renewed for additional periods after one year as long as grant funding is available. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Terry Loring and will be able to continue their current research projects while also having the opportunity to engage in collaborative work with Dr. Alex Cerjan's research group at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies in Albuquerque. This position offers a unique chance to bridge theoretical mathematics, physics and numerical simulations while mentoring in a cross-disciplinary group. This group includes graduate students and postdocs split between the two institutions and hosts student interns each summer. This position has no teaching responsibilities, but there is an opportunity to teach if desired. The preferred starting date is in August 2025.
