Schmidt Construction part of the Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work at our Colorado Springs, CO location . The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs all functions pertaining to the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty off-road construction equipment. This position allows for career progression into a Shop Foreman or Maintenance Manager. Pay: 26-40 Shift/Schedule: 3pm-11pm Possible nights and weekends Overtime expected This position includes: $2000 Tool Allowance $200 Boot Allowance Benefits Competitive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Prescription, 401(K) with 3% Employer Contribution, Long- and Short-term Disability Year round, non-weather dependent employment Tuition Reimbursement for qualified skilled trade programs Student Loan Repayment Program Employee Referral Program Responsibilities The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will: Repairs and maintains asphalt paving equipment Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects Dismantles equipment, machines to gain access to problem area Repairs malfunctioning hydraulic components Diagnoses and correct electrical problems Changes oil, etc., checks and changes batteries Performs preventative maintenance Makes recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources Requisitions parts and equipment Utilizes Oracle eAM to schedule maintenance and create work orders Record keeping and reporting Provides general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility Creates work orders and procures parts electronically Performs computer diagnostics (Cat ET, Cummins Insite, Power Tech Tool) Any other duties as assigned by supervisor Skills The ideal candidate will have: Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs. Mechanical aptitude Knowledge of off-road heavy equipment Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, electrical systems, drivelines, steering mechanisms, and suspensions Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb or crawl under or on top of equipment Ability to manipulate components in hard to reach places with hands or tools Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer knowledge Valid Driver's License CDL Class A Willingness to perform other duties as assigned. To Apply Please submit your resume.
