We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief Risk Officer of Enterprise Risk Management to join our team at our Fargo Corporate Office. Reporting to the EVP/Chief Risk Officer (CRO), this role plays a critical part in managing the Bank's Risk Governance Framework and leading key components of our Risk Management System (RMS). The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and financial services.
What You'll Do:
Risk Governance & Leadership
Lead the ongoing management of the Bank's Risk Appetite Framework, ensuring risks remain within the Bank's strategic risk parameters. Serve as Vice Chair of the Bank's Executive Risk Committee and a key member of various risk governance committees. Collaborate with Internal Audit to address risk deficiencies and enhance due diligence processes. Champion Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) across the Bank, driving a culture of risk awareness and mitigation.
Risk Management & Oversight
Oversee the Bank's Risk Taxonomy, Risk Leveling Standards, and Risk Measurement Framework. Develop and present Board-level risk reporting, highlighting significant risks, key risk indicators (KRIs), and long-term uncertainties. Lead risk assessments for key products, services, and technologies, ensuring alignment with the Bank's strategy and regulatory requirements. Establish and manage the Bank's Policy, Procedure, and Control (PPC) Framework.
Operational & Vendor Risk
Vice Chair the Bank's Operational Risk Committee, working alongside the CIO to oversee operational risk reporting. Oversee vendor risk management policies, procedures, and due diligence to ensure regulatory compliance. Ensure effective model risk management frameworks and oversight.
Quality Control & Credit Risk Review
Lead the Bank's Credit Risk Review Program in alignment with OCC Bulletin 2020-50. Establish and chair the Quality Control Committee, ensuring oversight of quality control processes. Oversee the Bank's independent loan review program, ensuring strong credit risk oversight.
Regulatory Oversight & Compliance
Serve as the primary liaison with the OCC, coordinating regulatory exams and supervisory activities. Manage execution of action plans to address OCC Best Practice Recommendations and MRAs. Coordinate quarterly OCC supervisory meetings with Bank leadership.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's Degree required (Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred); MBA or Law Degree a plus. 10+ years of financial institution expertise in lending, deposits, and payment systems. 7-10 years of experience in risk management, compliance, finance, accounting, credit, technology, or information security. Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, enterprise risk management, and financial industry best practices. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
