Under direction of the Senior Operations Manager of PET Production, the Radiology Pharmacy Technician provides a variety of services to support the safe and efficient production and use of radioactive drugs for research and clinical diagnostic use. Assists nuclear pharmacists and radiochemists in all aspects of the day to day operation of the PET Production Facility operating under cGMP, including radiochemical production area, analytical laboratory and clean room and the clinical nuclear pharmacy
Duties in the PET Nuclear Pharmacy and PET Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility including but not limited to: * Following cGMP will assist in the aseptic preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a clean room environment. * Preparation of sterile filtration assemblies * Environmental monitoring of aseptic processes * Inoculation of sterility media * Maintenance of clean room and production facility. * Environmental and radiological monitoring of the clean room, production area and quality control lab * Assists in the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals: * Operation of automated radiochemistry synthesis units * Cleaning of automated radiochemistry synthesis units * Maintenance of automated radiochemistry synthesis units * Quality control of PET radiopharmaceuticals * Oversight of stock supplies (monitoring and replenishment) * Packaging of radiopharmaceuticals for transport. Responsibilities in the clinical nuclear pharmacy include the preparation of FDA-approved radiopharmaceuticals, preparation of patient-specific radiopharmaceutical doses, quality control, inventory control, and facility maintenance. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS: Licenses: Required: MA Pharmacy Technician or eligible for licensure EDUCATION: Minimum Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent Certificate EXPERIENCE: Preferred: One year experience in aseptic preparation and clean rooms. Experience in the handling of radioactive materials WORKING CONDITIONS: - The MGH PET Production Facility is an FDA registered PET Radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Applicant will work in the PET Production in a cGMP facility located in the Edwards Research Basement. - Must be able to lift 60 lbs. - Applicant will handle radiopharmaceuticals following appropriate safety protocols The information contained in this document is intended to describe the general contents and requirements of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
