Summary
Provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include conducting a variety of routine experiments with established methodologies, data collection and management, and other research activities as assigned.

Essential Functions
-Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.

-Study cohort management.

-Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents.

-Provides assistance on work related to epidemiological studies and other population-based research.

Research Assistant I will work under the Director of the BWH Crohn's and Colitis Center, Dr. Jessica Allegretti MD, MPH. RA I will work in the Gastroenterology department at Brigham and Women's Hospital Main Campus on various projects including both clinical and translational research studies. They will be responsible for individual clinical research studies under the principle investigator and will run study visits with participants, communicate with the IRB/Sponsor, handle study documents and complete data entry. Excellent communication (oral and written), phone, and computer skills are necessary. Excellent trouble-shooting and problem solving skills required. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks is imperative.

RA I will have the ability to work both individually and in a group setting. Will coordinate the consenting process and appropriate follow up with subjects. Will work on sample collection, sample processing and storage. Will organize and keep inventory of various freezer samples. Will ensure that all documentation maintained is readily available for review by study staff, PI and monitors as necessary. * Working under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator Jessica Allegretti, MD, MPH RA I will serve as one of the primary research coordinator for sponsored and investigator initiated projects.

* They will be responsible for all aspects of the project - including (but not limited to) subject recruitment, conduct study visits, process samples, enter data, maintain sample freezer and IRB submissions

* Coordinate the consenting process, performs study visits, and appropriate follow up with subjects

* Sample collection, sample processing and storage

* Maintain sample freezer and pull samples as requested

* Detect, analyze, and report inconsistencies during sample storage

* Collect and enter data and maintain subject binders

* Ensure that all documentation maintained is readily available for review by study staff, PI and monitors as necessary

* IRB submissions and maintain regulatory files

* Adheres to the administrative aspects of trials, including data quality, protocol violation reporting and adverse event reporting, and accurately and promptly maintains study related logs

* Coordinates study data and samples with investigator when requested

* Promptly resolves and responds to data queries

* Prepares and presents data reports as directed

* Collecting and entering data for other projects

* Other study related procedures and duties as assigned

Education
Bachelor's Degree Science required

Experience
New grad with some relevant coursework 0-1 year preferred

This job is in-person 3 days a week and remote (performed from an encrypted personal laptop) 2 days a week. The primary location is at the Main Campus in the Thorn Building on 20 Shattuck Street in Boston. This job is associated with the BWH Gastrointestinal Unit located at the BWH Main Hospital, 75 Francis Street in the Allegretti Lab.
