This is a full time (40h/wk) technical research assistant position in a cancer research lab focused on a rare, incurable, and lethal cancer or adolescents and young adults called NUT carcinoma. Your responsibilities are broad and include performance of experiments (cell culture, cell transfection, western blotting, RT-PCR, PCR, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, CRISPR screens, CUT&RUN, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)), lab maintenance, and safety. This job is intense, but you will learn a lot more skills than many other labs because we are quite small. Benefits will be exposure to the clinical and scientific aspects of a very serious, life threatening illness, and diverse laboratory bench research experience. Often (not always), there is a chance to be an author on a publication. Our track record is 90% success for those applying to graduate (4/4) or medical school (5/6).
You need at least six months of professional bench top research experience to apply, not including classroom laboratory time. We are seeking a hard working individual who is outgoing and enthusiastic. This is a demanding yet rewarding job.
