Sales and Use Tax Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales and Use Tax Accountant . This role plays a key part in ensuring tax compliance, managing audits, and maintaining accurate tax records. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a solid understanding of sales and use tax regulations.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the timely and accurate filing of sales and use tax returns.
  • Maintain business system sales and use tax attributes.
  • Prepare tax-related end-of-month financial journal entries.
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts.
  • Conduct internal sales and use tax reviews.
  • Analyze expenditure taxability.
  • Prepare miscellaneous gross receipts, production, and severance tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with unclaimed property regulations.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment regularly.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and corporate sales/use tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Work effectively within general policies and departmental objectives.
