The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Director, Workday Platforms for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $151,000- $189,000- $227,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Director, Workday Platforms is responsible for establishing and maintaining the implementation, management, and continuous optimization of the enterprise Workday platforms for Finance and HR. Provide leadership during implementation and ongoing management and oversight of the platforms after launch. Identify, develop, implement, and maintain processes across the Workday platform to drive operational efficiencies at every level for both Finance and HR. Lead implementation of new functionality improvements as well as interface with outside partners when needed. As member of the IT leadership team, establishes departmental goals and objectives to support the AHA's strategic plan.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • System Configuration and Maintenance:

    • Configure and maintain the Workday platform, including core FDM, HCM, and Adaptive.
    • Manage and implement system upgrades and enhancements as released by Workday, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
    • Work with business users to identify, prioritize, and implement system enhancements that will improve business processes and access to information.
    • Configure and update business processes, security roles, reports, and dashboards to ensure they meet company requirements.


  • User Support and Troubleshooting:

    • Provide day-to-day support for users of the Workday system, addressing issues and questions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with the Finance, HR, and other departments to ensure proper functioning of the system.


  • Participate and lead Workday Projects:

    • Participate in the initial Workday implementation for Finance and HR, play an integral role in design decisions, and ensure proper understanding of implementation decisions and impact downstream.
    • Act as project lead for any projects after the initial implementation.
    • Provide well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability. Establish and communicate goals and objectives to the team; define methodologies, tasks, and activities, and clearly set standards for performance.
    • Communicate broadly to help ensure overall coordination for cross-functional teams.
    • Provide staff direction with an understanding of and adherence to established company and IT policies and procedures.


  • System Testing and Validation:

    • Participate in and plan for testing, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), for new releases, features, and functionality.
    • Validate and monitor data to ensure accuracy and integrity of information within Workday.


  • Security Management:

    • Manage and configure security roles and user access to ensure appropriate system access based on job functions.
    • Work with Cybersecurity team to facilitate audits of user permissions to comply with internal security and privacy policies.


  • Reporting and Analytics:

    • Assist in creating and maintaining custom reports and dashboards to support business operations and decision-making when needed.


  • Training and Documentation:

    • Assist subject matter experts in developing and delivering training materials and documentation to Workday users, ensuring they are aware of system functionalities and best practices.
    • Assist in conducting training sessions for new users and existing employees as system changes occur.


  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other IT team members and external consultants/vendors to ensure proper integration between Workday and other systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and ensure Workday processes align with business objectives.


  • Optimization and Process Improvement:

    • Continuously assess and recommend improvements to processes within Workday, and configurations to maximize efficiency and user experience.
    • Stay up to date on new Workday features and functionalities and recommend relevant improvements for business needs.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of INFORMATION SYSTEMS (required)
Experience
Experience with Workday Extend and Workday integration capabilities (required)
3 years: At least three years managing Workday platforms in a similar company environment, including configuration and maintenance of Workday modules such as core HR, payroll, benefits and recruiting.

10 years: At least ten years' experience implementing/managing enterprise software/financial systems.
