Position Overview

The Learning Frameworks faculty member plays a crucial role in supporting student success through direct instruction and collaboration with various campus partners.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered teaching and learning, showing flexibility in meeting diverse student needs while maintaining high academic standards. They will be expected to contribute to department and college-wide efforts to improve student persistence and completion rates through innovative teaching strategies and active participation in student success initiatives.

Faculty schedules vary by semester. Candidate may be required to teach evening, weekend, summer, online, hybrid, and/or distance education courses including those at the main campus, McNair Center, Liberty Center and/or dual credit courses at high schools within the college's service area.

This position requires working closely with academic and student support services, advising and counseling services, and other campus offices to create a comprehensive network of support for students. The successful candidate will serve as a bridge between academic instruction and student services, helping students develop the skills needed for college success while connecting them to appropriate campus resources.

The ideal faculty member will contribute to a community of care by:

  • Participating in the college's early alert system
  • Collaborating with academic advisors and success coaches
  • Contributing to new student orientation programs
  • Supporting retention initiatives
  • Engaging with the First-Year Experience program
  • Participating in professional development focused on student success

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach Learning Frameworks courses.
  • Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with Lee College requirements.
  • Submit required student reports to the Admissions & Records Office according to schedule.
  • Direct, evaluate, and assess the learning experience of the students in accordance with adopted curricula and approved procedures.
  • Provide counsel/guidance to students when there is a need.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student success through proactive mentoring and support.
  • Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain regular student office hours and be readily available to meet with students.
  • Actively participate in student success initiatives and early alert programs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely intervention for at-risk students.
  • All faculty members are required to be on campus thirty-five (35) hours per week and participate in professional development activities, department and college committees, commencement, and other activities as stated in the Faculty Workload and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Faculty members may be required to teach evening, weekend, summer, online, hybrid, and dual credit classes at various campuses.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend and support student activities and celebrations throughout the academic year.
  • Participate in student orientation and welcome events.
  • Engage in campus-wide student success and retention initiatives.
  • Contribute to department and college-wide student engagement efforts.
  • Participate in campus-related committees as needed.
  • Recruit for and promote the Learning Frameworks program.
  • Participate in professional development activities, both on-campus and off.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Qualified candidates must have a Master's (or higher) degree in Education, Psychology, or a closely related discipline or a Master's (or higher) degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Education, Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on providing constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to create supportive learning environments.
  • Understanding of barriers facing community college students and strategies to address them.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to students' academic and non-academic needs.
  • Skills in building rapport and maintaining professional relationships with students.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience teaching at a community college
  • Previous experience teaching Student Success courses at an institution of higher education
  • Previous experience teaching metacognitive skills and self-regulation to college students
  • Able to design assessments and analyze results to measure learning
  • Prior online teaching experience and certification
  • Blackboard Learning Management System experience
  • Demonstrated experience in student mentoring or academic coaching
  • Track record of utilizing student-centered teaching approaches
  • Experience working with first-generation college students
  • Evidence of participating in student support programs or initiatives
  • Background in implementing retention strategies in the classroom
  • History of fostering student engagement through extracurricular activities
  • Experience with early intervention strategies for struggling students
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting student mental health and wellbeing
