The Department of Consumer and Design Sciences at Auburn University is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual who has passion in instruction for a non-tenure track Lecturer position in Interior Design. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate studio and lecture courses, contributing to curriculum development, advising undergraduate students, engaging with the department and industry partners, and promoting the program excellence in and outside the university. Interior Design Program: The nationally ranked,
CIDA-accredited program has approximately 113 pre-majors at freshman level and 177 majors competitively selected for the sophomore to senior sequenced, studio-based program that includes a ten-week professional internship. Students pay an extra professional fee to support specialized program needs and updates, field trips, approved certifications, and others. An industry Advisory Board has provided strong support for 30 years.
Department and University: The Department of Consumer and Design Sciences has 22 faculty positions (17 full-time, tenured/tenure track and 5 lecturers), 596 undergraduates and 29 graduate students. Bachelor of Science programs are Interior Design; Apparel, Merchandising, Design and Production Management; and Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies. The graduate program offers masters and doctoral degrees in Consumer and Design Sciences. - Teach undergraduate studio and lecture courses with content in at least two of the following areas: Design foundations; Construction documents, construction methods and materials; Interior materials, finishes, construction, and components; A breadth of design studios, including, but not limited to residential Design, commercial design, hospitality design, and design for health & wellness.
- Work with program coordinator and faculty team to maintain CIDA-accredited status.
- Ability to teach within a pre-determined course structure and/or to participate in curriculum development
- Actively contribute to departmental service and program-based initiatives.
- Demonstrate collegiality through engagement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, community, and professional partners.
- Be actively involved with industry and relevant professional associations.

Minimum Qualifications |
MFA or Master's degree in Interior Design or related field required at the time employment begins.- Be familiar with relevant industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp).
- Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of the appointment.
- Must be fluent in English and must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications |
- Desired: Previous teaching experience in higher education and professional practice in interior design and/or interior architecture; WELL AP, LEED, EDAC, or other relevant certification(s); by date of hire, either have passed the NCIDQ exam or other commensurate professional licensing exam or meet eligibility requirements to sit for respective licensing.
