TITLE : DIRECTOR, PRECONSTRUCTION & ESTIMATION

LOCATION: Onsite - Ashburn, VA 20147

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Preconstruction & Estimation manages all activities related to the management and oversite of the Preconstruction department, which includes oversite of all estimation activities sought by CPG.

  • Adopts and promotes commitment to always provide a safe workplace that strives for an Incident and Injury Free environment where everyone goes home safe every day
  • Establishes the strategy and process for the development of estimates and proposals
  • Manage the bid, negotiation, and contract award for subcontractors, in conjunction with the Construction, Engineering, Finance, Procurement and Legal teams.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and acts as the primary contact and counsel to Senior Management on the Preconstruction team. Develop key metrics for reporting / tracking project deliverables.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Identifies deficiencies in skills among associates and work to improve individual's capabilities through coaching, development, and training
  • Manages and develops team to foster learning and growth at the company level
  • Knowledge of Preconstruction management best practices and a willingness to adapt and develop existing practices
  • Ensures training and continuous improvement processes are implemented for the Preconstruction Management team
  • Provides guidance to the Construction teams to develop budgets, contracts and project plans during the proposal, design and/or preconstruction phase of the project
  • Provides leadership and coordinates with other internal teams including, procurement, on the development of all RFP documents required for bid tendering
  • Leads and develops processes to ensure full, end-to-end coordination between all involved parties from planning, design, construction, and commissioning
  • Accountable for management of the CM group budget and financial reporting
  • Other related duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in construction, electronics, electrical theory or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Trade School or Military training is an acceptable equivalent to a formal degree.
  • At least 8 years' experience in electrical contracting, data center construction or similar industry.
  • Strong management presence with history of strategic accomplishments & ability to respond to tactical challenges.
  • Strong leader with team building and talent development ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of mission critical facilities, systems, interconnectivity, design, and operational best-practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, initiatives, and challenges simultaneously and to work across the company leveraging teams to support project delivery.

  • Proven high-level thinker skilled in complex problem solving, with excellent interpersonal, collaboration and prioritization abilities.

  • Mission Critical Data Center Facility Design and Operation Best Practices
  • Microsoft Office, Adobe Office Applications, Bluebeam, Revit, and Procore Project Management tools.
  • Site visits to walk projects.
  • Available for up to 10% travel

  • Demonstrable success leading Support and Services teams in a fast-paced mission critical environment.
  • Directly supervises 5 or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 - 50 pounds at a time. May be required to walk around facility for site visits. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Pay Range: $126,989 - $190,537 per year
