Job Posting: Engineer or Scientist
Location: Sacramento, CA - Can be remote, California or West Coast location highly preferred
Salary: $135,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications

We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer or Scientist to join our team in Sacramento, CA. This role will primarily focus on supporting U.S. EPA contracts and overseeing projects related to CERCLA (Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act) remedial investigations for hard rock mine contaminated sites.

The ideal candidate will have extensive project management experience, including managing scope, schedule, time and materials and fixed price budgets, and coordinating with subcontractors. You will also be responsible for client and subcontractor interactions, ensuring compliance with QA/QC project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Project Management: Oversee CERCLA remedial investigations, feasibility studies, site inspections, preliminary assessments, remedial designs, and remedial actions. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful delivery.
  • Client & Regulator Interaction: Engage with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Subcontractor Management: Procure and manage subcontractors for various project components, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required specifications and timelines.
  • QA/QC Implementation: Implement and maintain QA/QC project requirements to ensure all work meets regulatory and project standards.
  • Public Engagement: Support or lead public meetings to communicate project progress, address concerns, and ensure transparency.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain certification and ensure compliance with 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher training for CERCLA site activities.
  • Proposal Support: Assist with the development of contract and project proposals to secure new work opportunities.

Qualifications:



  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in project management for CERCLA remedial investigations or related investigations.
    • Experience with hard rock mine contaminated sites preferred.
    • Experience with feasibility studies, site inspections, preliminary assessments, remedial designs, and remedial actions.
  • Certifications:

    • Valid 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, with an 8-hour refresher for CERCLA sites.
    • Professional registration as a PG, PE or PMP preferred
  • Skills:

    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of CERCLA and environmental regulatory requirements in California preferred
    • Experience with managing and coordinating subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
