Description

SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing and implementation of projects based on the prioritization of the AMPP enterprise project portfolio. The Project Manager will be responsible for communication to the project stakeholders, upper management and project teams while ensuring quality control throughout the project life cycle. The Project Manager must be organized, detail oriented, a self starter and can work independently on projects assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Manage multiple projects at the same time while making sure each project stays in scope and on schedule
  • Working with stakeholders to document the scope of the project and criteria for success
  • Develop, track and maintain project plans and progress for assigned projects
  • Track and report on project milestones and measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Develop and execute communication plans and provide status updates for the project to stakeholders, vendors, PMO Director and the Executive Office
  • Act as a mediator between stakeholders, project team members and vendors
  • Maintain and track project spend; report any concerns to stakeholders and PMO Director
  • Create and maintain all project related documents, ensuring completion and updates of appropriate documentation
  • Document and manage project risks/issues
  • Manage change requests to the project scope, schedule and cost using the appropriate verification techniques and ensuring proper documentation and approval
  • Work with project sponsors and stakeholders to complete project documentation outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, communication plan, budget and timing

No supervisory responsibilities required for this role.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Project Management experience required.

    • Ability to manage multiple unrelated tasks and priorities
    • Effective facilitation and communication skills; listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions
    • Status tracking and reporting
    • Problem Solving Skills work well in a group problem solving situation, using reason even when dealing with emotional topics
    • Effective planning and organizational skills
    • Strong written skill; writes clearly and informatively


  • Business Analyst experience preferred

    • Business Requirements Management (requirements gathering and documentation)
    • Process management and improvement knowledge


  • Familiarity with project management tools and/or software packages, Microsoft Project experience preferred
  • Ability to develop project plans
  • Efficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Some travel is expected for this role

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • College degree preferred
  • 1+ years experience managing projects
  • Certification or pursuing of PMP preferred



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Candidate should possess strong written, oral, interpersonal, group and telephone communication skills, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write effective reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skill both verbal and written. Ability to work in a multi task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and peers.

Must be creative, detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
