Job Summary

The Financial Analyst will work as a member of the Centers for Violence Prevention administrative services unit, providing high level fiscal, analytical, administrative, and policy/procedure support to the Director, Associate Director, Principal Investigators, and research staff on fiscal matters of significant complexity. Responsible for complex budget/financial management of more than $5M in federal, state, local, and private funding. Independently manages short- and long-term budget projections, financial oversight, and fiscal compliance for pre- and post-award grant management.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field /or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience in financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning to analyze quantitative aspects of fiscal and budgetary issues and compile financial data and reports.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP, cost allocation methods, and accounting policies and procedures in an academic research environment.
  • Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload, to manage and monitor multiple accounts simultaneously, and to meet multiple and variable priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to function as a member of the research administration team and foster an effective and collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of UC Davis Finance and Business systems (Aggie Enterprise, KFS, FIS DS, Aggie Expense, Cognos, UC Path, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to understand and appropriately respond to multiple and frequent inquiries, requests, and instructions in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal financial guidelines as stated in OMB-Circular A-21 and federal audit guidelines in OMB-Circular A-133.
  • Knowledge of causes, consequences, and prevention of violence.
  • Strong planning, analytical and communication skills to anticipate challenges, analyze problems and implement financial controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of contracts.

At the Centers for Violence Prevention (CVP), we provide a scientific approach to understanding and preventing violence. Our research centers have more than 30 years of experience, through which we've helped shape the way violence is studied and prevented. We continue to build the evidence base that community members and change makers can rely on for effective violence prevention strategies.

The Centers for Violence Prevention shares the work of the Violence Prevention Research Program and the California
Firearm Violence Research Center to empower key stakeholders and translate findings into impactful policies and
initiatives, creating safer, more equitable communities where all can flourish. CVP is also home to the BulletPoints Project, which provides clinical tools for preventing firearm injury.

Work Environment
