Are you passionate about fostering an inclusive environment that nurtures the growth and development of children? Do you have experience working with youth of diverse abilities? If you're looking for a meaningful summer role where you can make a difference while enjoying the outdoors, we encourage you to apply!

Camp STAR is a fully integrated day camp designed for children with cognitive, emotional, sensory, and behavioral disabilities. Our campers engage in daily activities with their peers, benefiting from hands-on learning and peer modeling in a supportive and inclusive setting.

As a member of the Y camp staff, you will play a vital role in supervising and guiding campers, leading engaging activities, and contributing to the development and execution of camp programs. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of all participants, upholding camp policies, and maintaining an environment where every child can thrive. Camp STAR staff must be attentive to the personal and health needs of campers, responding and reporting as needed.

Successful Camp STAR counselors lead with compassion and have experience or a strong interest in working as behavior technicians, inclusion specialists, occupational therapists, or educators in special education. A solid understanding of social-emotional learning and adaptive teaching strategies is highly valued in this role. To thrive in this position, counselors must be able to assess and respond to camper behavior appropriately, enforce safety guidelines, and apply effective behavior-management techniques while fostering a fun and inclusive camp experience.
