We are seeking a full-time summer Research Assistant (RA) intern to support this work from May to August 2025. The RA will assist with data management and analysis, including data entry, database development, and preliminary statistical analyses under supervision. Additional responsibilities include preparing research reports (e.g., IRB submissions), conducting literature reviews, and performing administrative tasks such as organizing research materials and maintaining documentation. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail in an academic research setting.

Our research team focuses on leveraging electronic health records (EHR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance early detection and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Specifically, we aim to identify and analyze subjective cognitive decline using advanced informatics and AI-driven methodologies. Our work integrates machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive modeling to develop case-finding methods and investigate risk factors and outcomes associated with cognitive decline.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with database creation, maintenance, and data cleaning to support research projects.
  • Utilize SQL, Excel, Python, and R for data collection, database development, and basic data analysis (training available).
  • Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation for study protocol approvals and amendments.
  • Schedule and coordinate conference calls, research meetings, including preparing agendas and pre-meeting materials.
  • Conduct literature searches and maintain a well-organized bibliographic library.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, including PowerPoint slides, tables, and graphs for research dissemination.
  • Contribute to research reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including photocopying, emailing, mailing, faxing, and documenting project work.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with videoconferencing software and webinar setup.
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Java/JavaScript (preferred).
  • Experience with AI, machine learning (ML), and large language models (LLMs) (preferred).

  • Professionalism and respect when working with hospital leadership and staff.
  • Willingness to learn new software tools as needed.
