The Research Assistant II provides assistance on work related to epidemiological studies and other population-based research not related to clinical trials or laboratory. The RA II assists with reporting and developing new research proposals, and trains and orients staff.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
- Study cohort management.
- Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents.
- Assists with preparing progress reports with basic prescriptive statistics.
- Gathers information to aid in the development of future research proposals. Trains and orients new staff.

Education:
B.A/B.S. with background in pre-med, psychology, neuroscience or related field required.

Experience:
1+ year of clinical research experience (post-graduation)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work well independently, prioritizing work according to and within established study protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills to accomplish a variety of responsibilities and to establish and maintain efficient systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people in person and on the telephone are a must. Must be able to relate well with subjects, physicians, technologists and administrators both within the BRANCH team and across different sites and collaborating studies.
  • Excellent communication skills to relay information when acting as a liaison between the BRANCH team and collaborating studies and sites.
  • Ability to work under stress and within deadlines; the clinical research setting is a very busy and demanding environment.
  • Experience with word processing software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Bilingual- English/Spanish desired, but not required.
  • Photoshop experience desired, but not required.

Harvard Aging Brain Study investigators at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital are looking for a Research Assistant to help coordinate the development and implementation of a novel, smart-phone based cognitive test: the Boston Remote Assessment of NeuroCognitive Health (BRANCH), created by Drs. Kathryn Papp and Rebecca Amariglio.This role will involve working closely with study investigators on coordinating pilot studies, including implementing in existing protocols, monitoring completion and dataflow, liaising with collaborating sites and studies, and helping schedule recurring participants as well as recruiting new ones. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in research experience for pursuing a career in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive and behavioral neurology, or similar.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently initiate new BRANCH participants, sequences, and assignments in the BRANCH system.
  • Continue development of BRANCH tests and stimuli on the front and backend of the web app platform.
  • Assist with BRANCH data analytics, data management, and quality assurance efforts.
  • Lead recruitment efforts from existing registries and other sources.
  • Contacting and following up with participants to schedule semi-annual BRANCH sessions.
  • Scheduling appointments and assuring completion of visits.
  • Oversee troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts when participants have any issues with the platform.
  • Administering cognitive testing and behavioral questionnaires for multiple research studies.
  • Reviewing study details and obtaining informed consent from potential subjects.
  • Attending outreach/recruitment events in the community.
  • Primary contact for private and academic collaborators that wish to use BRANCH in external trials, assist in the setup of contracts and agreements.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving issues related to the BRANCH platform that arise for collaborating studies and sites.
  • Assisting PIs and other BRANCH coordinators with analyses and tasks as BRANCH project continues to expand.
