Summary
Responsible for designing, developing and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Also ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards. Essential Functions Participates in all phases of capital equipment purchases including clinical needs determination and budgeting, market survey and evaluation, and introduction of devices into clinical areas. -Mentors and trains others biomedical engineers. -Leads large-scale projects across an entity. -Approves new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes and making modifications. -Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance. -Directs biomedical equipment operation by providing equipment operation demonstrations, instructing other healthcare staff in use and care of equipment and answering questions. -Improves equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction, conferring with equipment users, developing modifications, and collaborating with manufacturers. -Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
