Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Fayetteville State University is accepting applications for a Temporary Bronco One Card Technician.

The Fayetteville State University ( FSU) One-Card Office falls under the organizational structure of Business Services within the Business and Finance Division. The One-Card Office is the primary administrative focus for the implementation and operation of the University's One-Card Program and the University Locksmith Shop. The University's One Card System was designed to serve
as the central control system for meal plan dining hall access, building security access, verification of student enrollment and as a debit card location for various points of sale activities. Some of these activities include declining balances bonus dollars for students on meal plans, vending sales, copier sales, laundry services, bookstore sales and ticket distribution.
Description of Work Continued:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and technical expertise in the optimal hardware performance of the Bronco One-Card Office. Individual will also provide technical support to various offices within the Business Services unit as needed. The individual provides systems, application, and consulting support to the client server applications of the Blackboard
Transaction System and TMA Key Tracking Systems to include assisting the infrastructure team with server debugging, maintenance and monitoring. Applications support to include end-user training and support, software installation, and hardware maintenance and support. Works cooperatively with the Information Technology Department to make sure additions and changes to the network infrastructure are maintained properly. Provides training to other Bronco One-Card Office team members on application support during peak business periods. Accountable for providing support and testing for the One-Card Office Transaction Processor network, LAN and digital imaging system. This includes peripherals, point of sale terminals, workstations, building controllers, cards, hubs, routers, wiring, and access door and vending machine readers. Provides application support for other Business Services departments when necessary. Manages equipment inventory and maintenance. Performs installation, maintenance and repair of hardware components of the Blackboard and Persona electronic card access and monitoring systems. Provides access and scheduling for the locking and unlocking of doors, maintains computerized records of building access and maintains an inventory of locks, parts, and hardware. Follows documented policies and procedures as established by management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from a two-year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area and sixth months in the information technology field related to the position's role preferred;
  • or graduation from high school and one year of experience in the field or work related to the position. Coursework in computer operations or information technology from a technical school or community college may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.


  • A valid driver's license. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, preferably five or more years of driving experience with no more than one minor at fault accident or violation in the past three years.

These tasks/functions may involve related or varying processes to test, renovate, overhaul, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on standard building systems. Provides technical assistance to others by troubleshooting standard facilities maintenance issues and determining their cause. Mentor's other technicians.
Communication: Communicates information to individuals or groups; delivers presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Clearly and concisely conveys written information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Listens and responds appropriately to others.
Problem Solving: Identifies facilities-related maintenance problems that require in-depth analysis and identifies options for solving those problems. Solve unusual facility maintenance problems that require applying journey-level trade knowledge and determine the most effective and efficient course of action. Gathers and analyzes/interprets information to better understand the nature of the problem. May seek input from subordinates, peers, and/or managers in the decision-making process to solve the problem. Evaluate options and choose appropriate action by considering potential outcomes. Makes sure that the problem is appropriately addressed.
Attention to Detail: Ensures all work meets and/or exceeds applicable codes and standards. Checks and re-checks work before, during, and after completion. Ensures that all parts of a project/task are completed. Uses appropriate record-keeping methods.
Coordination-Work: Determines project/assignment by breaking them down into tasks. Sets objectives and prioritizes activities and tasks, adjusts priorities when appropriate. Takes advantage of available resources (personnel, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently. Anticipates obstacles/roadblocks and prepares alternative plans to ensure timely task accomplishment. Uses time effectively and does not let distractions interfere with the the job/project completion.
Safety and Health Compliance: Identifies and resolves potential safety problems and unsafe work practices. Demonstrates to employees and others safe ways to perform job tasks or use equipment. Informs supervisor of unusual safety concerns and makes recommendations for resolution. Determines appropriate protective equipment based on established standards. Regularly assesses site and shop operations for safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Institutional Locksmith Association membership.
Certified Journey Level and/or Fire Door Inspector Certification, but not contingent on the position.
Certification in access control system design and installation
Five years of progressive Building Trades experience at the Journeyman level.
Three+ years of locksmith experience.
