Student Success and Well-Being - Career Services

Career Services provides comprehensive career services and programs to assist a diverse student population in developing and implementing career, education, and employment plans through collaborative internal partnerships with UCF administrators, faculty and staff, as well as effective external partnerships with key employers.

The Opportunity:

UCF's Student Success and Well-Being Office of Career Services is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director, Career Services. This role will act as the primary Career Services liaison to one or more UCF colleges providing support to the colleges mission, including building strategic external partnerships with businesses and planning career events/specialized programming designed to connect employers, students, and faculty. Develop new employer relationships and maintain/enhance current employer relationships using a combination of telephone/video calls, emails, meetings, and site visits. Provide recruiting strategy advice to employers. Implement employer outreach strategies and programs in support of recruiting efforts.

This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well Being or his/her designee.

Responsibilities:


  • Represents university at community and industry meetings and events throughout the region and state.

  • Conducts presentations to university, employer and community groups regarding targeted programs, CS and the university.

  • Maintains expertise/ knowledge of employment and industry trends, resources, and employment data related to this area and disseminate this expertise.

  • Designs and implements employer marketing strategies to promote CS programs/services with emphasis on job development, on-campus interviews and participation in job fairs.

  • Secures employer participation in various events, including scheduling employers for programs each semester, corresponding/sharing logistical details, maintain a database of employers to participate.

  • Assists in coordinating special college events, including guest speakers, employer panel presentations and targeted career fairs including publicity, recruiter development, space reservations, parking and logistics, catering, and other duties as needed.

  • Conducts on-going assessments for continuous process improvement.

  • Works collaboratively and meets frequently with college faculty, staff, alumni, students/student organizations to exchange ideas, assess and market programs and provide data on recruiting services and student employment.

  • Provides major/career expertise; public relations and communication to college; development of employer and student resources; and alignment with college goals.

  • Successfully utilizes various platforms such as Handshake, centralized Customer-Relationship Management database of employers, jobs, events, fairs, and students.

  • Assists in the development of career and employer outreach programming, workshops, relevant resources, career planning handouts and publications.

  • Attends programming such as networking receptions, career panels, and meetings with student groups.

  • Plans and implements targeted employment-search training programs specific to students in the colleges.

  • Support overall Career Services efforts through individual student advisement, outreach presentations, career planning workshops, and helping to implement successful career fairs and special events.

  • Assists Associate Director and/or Director in development/implementation of CS strategies, strategic plans, Institutional Effectiveness plans, etc.

  • Becomes member of Employer Relations team, collaborating with the team in overall employer relations and employer programs/services in support of recruiting activities.

  • Serves as the lead for specific events/programs each semester.

  • Serves on committees as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as required/deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of responsibilities/functions of his/her area.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with career services, six months or more (can include graduate student experience or with other experience, could include other professional experience).

  • Experience developing career programs, with aptitude for developing a new program, including marketing, planning and implementing new programs and projects.

  • Experience using technology to gather data and generate reports as well as technology specific to career programs. Skills or aptitude for developing recruiting relationships.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Proven communication skills, particularly with various groups, including faculty, employers and students.

  • Record of working independently and with self-directed teams.
