Shipping/Receiving Clerk

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk verifies incoming shipments for accuracy and damages. Logs receiving information into the computer. Delivers incoming supplies to the user department. Picks up and/or delivers supplies throughout the city as needed.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Inspects incoming shipments for accuracy and damages; notifies supervisor of errors or need for follow-up.

2. *Logs receiving information into the computer.

3. *Operates equipment according to manufacturers' specifications and department policy.

4. *Uses proper body mechanics in lifting, pushing and pulling for personal safety.

5. *Delivers supplies to ordering department; makes deliveries throughout city as needed and directed.

6. Places supplies in designated locations.

7. Prepares packages for shipment.

8. Maintains all shipping/receiving documentation.

9. Notifies Supervisor or appropriate personnel of equipment problems and needed repairs.

10. Ensures work area is neat and clean prior to end of shift.

11. Communicates with primary distributor to resolve shipping discrepancies.

12. Routinely accesses locked storage areas (where drugs, IV solutions and contrast media are also stored) to obtain or stock supplies as pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.

13. Operates vehicle according to departmental policies and motor vehicle laws.

14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of basic arithmetic computations.

2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Skill in the use of warehouse and work-related equipment.

4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

5. Ability to organize and prioritize daily work with minimal supervision.

6. Ability to input receiving information into a computer accurately.

7. Ability to inspect and store/dispense incoming facility shipments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalency required. Shipping and receiving experience preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid State of Nebraska driver's license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required. Pallet Jack certification required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)

(DOT) - Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
