Essential Job Duties |
The Professional Development Coordinator duties include but are not limited to:
First Year Student Career Coaching
- Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of First Year Student Initiatives, the position will provide individual and group career coaching to first year NC State students.
- Present Career Identity and Career Readiness workshops to students.
- Provide feedback on career assessment tools and facilitate career identity plan reflections.
Faculty/Staff Career Champion Program Administration/Delivery
- Assist the team with presenting Career Champion training to faculty and staff, ensuring they understand career identity and career readiness resources and are prepared to conduct career coaching.
- Track participant participation.
Career Ambassador (CA) Program Administration
- Serve as the primary Program Advisor and Administrator for the Career Development Center Ambassador Program.
- Co-Teach USC 203 Course for New Ambassadors
- Recruit and train CAs
- Supervise Teaching Assistant for USC 203
- Secure Budget for Program Supplies/Costs
- Administrate the PackPros Program (in person and distance education)

Other Responsibilities |
- Represent the Career Development Center at the university orientations and other campus-wide events.
- Assist with administration of the Career Identity Program, student tracking, data collection and other signature first year focused programs.
- Provide customized presentations to classes, advisors, student organizations, dorm residents, and other campus groups as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Post-baccalaureate degree or 1 year completed towards a post-baccalaureate degree and 1 year student facing advising/coaching experience in college/university setting
|
Other Required Qualifications |
- Experience with career counseling/coaching and teaching
- Event planning experience
- Prior experience with the use of innovative web based technology
- Ability to think strategically and independently within the context of the big picture
and reprioritize multiple projects as necessary - Demonstrated leadership potential
- Strong student centered focus
- Comfortable with technology and working in a constantly changing environment
- Knowledge of social media and the best techniques to communicate to students
- Ability to work independently, display a professional demeanor, demonstrate resourcefulness
and problem solving skills - Excellent public speaking, writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be a creative and adaptable team player, enthusiastic about the challenge of moving students toward reaching their future goals

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's Degree Preferred (In Progress or Completed) in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business or related field.
