We are actively looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Long Beach or Costa Mesa office. As part of the Structural Group, the Structural Engineer designs a wide variety of structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls and noise barriers. Ensures structures can withstand the stresses and pressures imposed by use and the environment. Calculates stability, strength and rigidity and makes sure the right materials are used for each assigned project.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage projects, including cost estimates, budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, support and evaluation
  • Recommend contracting strategies
  • Construction support
  • Resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection
  • Design detailed plans and structural analysis
  • Perform finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of structures
  • Prepare design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Calculates quantity estimates
  • Coordinate plan details with drafting technicians
  • Prepares inspection reports as needed
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer or related discipline; required
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering; required
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Professional Engineer licensure in California or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Software
    • STAAD (required)
    • SAP (required)
    • VBridge (required)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$122,000 to $149,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California markets.

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
