Donor Relations Coordinator

The Salvation Army Midland Division Springfield Corps & Shelter located in Springfield, Missouri, is looking for a Donor Relations Coordinator. The position will be tasked with fostering donor relationships, curating donor data, prioritizing acknowledgments, fundraising and special events within Springfield, Greene and Christian counties served by The Salvation Army of Springfield. This position will also assist the Development Director with major gifts solicitations, media/communications, Red Kettle campaign and grant writing.

This is a full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week, pay is depending on experience.

Essential Functions

Administration



  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and reports within Salesforce.
  2. Foster and enhance donor communication before, during, and after contributions to ensure engagement and stewardship.
  3. Serve as the primary contact for CDS scanning of contributions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  4. Assist the Development Director in various administrative aspects of development activities, including donor solicitation, recognition, special events, the Red Kettle Campaign, and sponsorship outreach.
  5. Participate in Advisory Board and committee meetings as assigned by the Development Director, including the Development Committee, and manage meeting minutes.
  6. Represent The Salvation Army at community and service club meetings that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  7. Develop and produce the organization's annual report, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with The Salvation Army's messaging.
  8. Uphold integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive donor and organizational data while ensuring compliance with The Salvation Army's policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.



Fundraising



  1. Assist the Development Director in expanding fundraising efforts and donor cultivation, including major gifts, foundation and corporate donations, the Red Kettle Campaign, special fundraising initiatives, grants, mail appeals, and online giving.
  2. Collaborate with the Development Director and Corps Officer to develop, coordinate, and implement fundraising strategies that align with budgetary goals and organizational growth.
  3. Support the Development Director in setting financial targets for all fundraising activities and tracking progress toward those goals.
  4. Help manage direct mail campaigns and monitor the effectiveness of fundraising appeals.
  5. Work with the Corps Officers, Development Director, and Executive Leadership Team to gather relevant data and insights for grant writing, donor communications, and the annual report.
  6. Conduct donor analysis and generate fundraising performance reports within Salesforce as needed.



Media & Communications



  1. Coordinate media and communication efforts in collaboration with the Development Director, fostering relationships with existing and new media outlets (print, television, radio, social media, and online) to share The Salvation Army's mission and strengthen community engagement.
  2. Assist in the creation of written content for donor correspondence, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, direct mail campaigns, social media, the website, and other organizational communications.
  3. Support the Development Director in creating and managing digital content across The Salvation Army's website and social media platforms, including photography and videography.
  4. Deliver presentations to community groups and partner organizations, raising awareness of The Salvation Army's programs and needs.
  5. Assist the Resource Coordinator in planning and executing events to enhance volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and public engagement.
  6. Collaborate with Corps Officers, the Development Director, and the Executive Leadership Team to collect and share impactful success stories that promote The Salvation Army's mission.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with philanthropy, donor relations, and nonprofit operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/O365, including Excel, Word, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Symphony, and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or MailChimp.
  • Willingness to develop proficiency in Salvation Army-specific platforms, including Register to Ring, Better Impact, Red Shield Toolkit, and others as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage processes efficiently while fostering positive relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Must complete and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet The Salvation Army's Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) standards.

Employee Status

FULL TIME: Normal work hours will be determined with supervisor. However, working additional hours including some evenings or weekends may be required.
