The successful candidate:

Area of Focus: Outpatient Clinic

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

  • Utilize assessment, communication skills, and problem solving techniques to deliver quality care. The office nurse will also be responsible for the knowledge and technical skill needed to operate a variety of mechanical devices to accomplish this task. The office nurse is accountable for the age groups (average age group populations includes adolescents, adult and geriatrics) as defined in the scope of care.

  • Prepares patient for examination and treatment by taking and recording vitals signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements and recording of chief complaints. Documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician. Assists with delegated patient education including but not limited to distributing educational literature.

  • Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heartrate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies and EKGs. Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician and verifies consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.

  • Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, disability paperwork, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and diagnostic tests. Responsible for communicating appropriate test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications upon the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Provides clerical support with patient/client notification and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, imaging, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter within required timeframes.

  • Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates routine maintenance and repairs. Order supplies and stocks patient care areas. Monitors inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations, appropriately removes expired and/or recalled medications and equipment.

  • Executes physician's orders in accordance with policy and facilitates patient activities/flow to maximize physician efficiency

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum two years medical/surgical or oncology experience preferred

  • Previous office experience desirable

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Currently license as a LPN in the State of Georgia

  • Active BLS certification
