Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) will be an integral member of the Division of Hospitalist Medicine at Hasbro Children*s Hospital caring for children and adolescents admitted to the hospitalist service for general pediatric and behavioral health concerns. Working alongside a pediatric hospital medicine attending the Advance Practice Provider will provide comprehensive pediatric care to patients admitted to the hospital from admission through discharge including patients awaiting behavioral health placement. Close collaboration with social work case management child life and the child psychiatry team are required to serve this vulnerable group of patients. For general pediatric patients collaboration with consulting specialties including surgical and medical subspecialties is required. The anticipated schedule will be a combination of weekdays and partial days on some weekends no overnight or in-house call is required. Responsibilities: In conjunction with collaborating hospitalist APP and supervising attending pediatrician on service manages a caseload of inpatients on the Pediatric Hospitalist service including those patients awaiting behavioral health placement. Provides educational opportunities for medical students residents and other NP/PA students as appropriate. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Masters of Science Degree or Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Demonstrates outstanding teaching abilities and fantastic clinical care Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics. EXPERIENCE: Two years related pediatric experience in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years* experience as an APP and will also consider new graduates WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Responds to individual patient-care situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education certification and work experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
