Drafter/CAD Operator IV
Overview SCCI is seeking a Senior Drafter/CAD Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will work in the Technical Documentation Group supporting the development of the Battle Management System's family of products. Up to 5% travel annually may be expected. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA. Responsibilities: In this capacity the individual will work closely with the Documentation Software & Hardware Engineering teams to address areas which may include but are not limited to the following objectives and responsibilities.
- Produce, update, and complete drawings, solid models, and supporting documentation for systems to meet the needs of the program while adhering to engineering drawing standards and program specific processes
- Utilize SolidWorks and PDM software for editing engineering drawings, able to understand, navigate, and verify technical drawing packages
- Address Engineering Review comments on PDF's by modifying the models and drawing files; then generating updated PDF documents for review
- Create initial solid models of designs developed by lead engineers for further review, use, and/or refinement based on feedback and guidance from lead engineers
- Recreate and modify existing designs to suit the needs of current system requirements at the direction of lead engineers
- Remodel, rebuild, or refresh CAD designs to better align with defined TDP structures and baseline releases
- Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from presentations, reports, specifications, etc. and apply them in modeling practices
- Assist in design modifications by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials, which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts
- Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information
- Good verbal and written communication skills and can interface with engineers and program leadership
- Create models, drawings and PDF's for Vendor Item Control Drawings (VICD's) as required for Baseline designs
- Creation and Maintenance of models in the Hardware Vault within the PSP GWS program vault
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
- High School diploma
- Ten (10) years of experience in designing products using computer-aided design software applications such as AutoCAD, Pro/Engineer, and SolidWorks. This experience should include preparing complete sets of drawings technical drawing packages (TDP) and complex assembly drawing packages of test equipment to be manufactured from layouts, models, or engineering sketches
- Experience with SolidWorks, Acrobat, AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook
- Reading, interpreting, and comprehending schematic diagrams and blueprints for application of advanced analysis and drawing edits
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with Jira Software in tracking and managing their workflows and projects
