Knife River is looking for a dependable Project Engineer to join our team! Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in CEM or related field required
- Strong Computer skills required - fluency in Microsoft Office, experience with HCSS Heavy Bid / Heavy Job, Bluebeam, Agtek preferred.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have good math skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Basic survey skills and the ability to read plans and specifications.
- The ability to work well with others as a team and handle pressure and stressful situations positively.
- Must have a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and safety.
Duties and/or Responsibilities:
- Help project managers prepare agency bid documents and submit bids per outlined guidelines.
- Provide project administrative management of awarded contracts (quantity tracking, material procurement, equipment utilization, labor tracking).
- Coordinate with Construction Manager and field leadership, establishment of project objectives, procedures, schedules, and performance requirements.
- Maintain documentation of quantities and value of work estimated/completed to support forecasting for future project performance in HCSS tools.
- Provide ongoing support to Construction/Operations for efficient and profitable execution of work including scheduling, procurement, and change order/supplemental work processes.
- Monitor/Manage subcontractor's work.
- Partner with Contract Administrator to review and process financial aspects of contracts (ie: billings, subcontract payments, material payments, collections, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operations, material quantity discrepancies).
- Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Build and maintain relationships with agencies and community leaders.
- Help project managers with material takeoffs for bids.
- Ensure that work in progress conforms to specifications, is of high quality, and adheres to schedules.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, pre-bid meetings and visit project sites to determine scope of work required in preparing bid/estimate proposal.
- Help project managers determine labor, equipment and material requirements to complete project and use information to prepare bid/estimate proposal.
- Other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor.
