Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. The School has built a reputation for its continued pursuit of excellence, rigorous education and training programs, cutting-edge multidisciplinary research, progressive pharmacy practices, efficient business operations, and its outstanding faculty, staff, and students. Position Summary |
Research Technology Support Technician will provide computer support and act as a liaison between the
SOP Information and Education Technology team and the research lab enterprise of the
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, including faculty, staff, and students supporting the school's research operations. It is located on the
UNC - Chapel Hill campus. This position works directly with members of the Information and Educational Technology Department, primarily the department's IT Director, Systems Administrator, and Help Desk Manager
The position is responsible for installing, maintaining, assisting, and supporting the Eshelman School of Pharmacy's research information computing environments; They will work closely with the
UNC campus Information Technology Services Department to integrate the school's research assets with the University infrastructure, ensuring security policies are followed. Duties include desktop support, instrument support, computing purchasing and inventory, lab management from an IT perspective, management of research collaboration within the school and university, server management where applicable, assist with system administration when needed, user management, application and hardware advising, and user training. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role.
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience. |

* IT Service Management system experience
* Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills, including Teams and OneDrive
* Experience in a research lab environment/enterprise
* Experience with remote support tools like Bomgar
* IT support experience in a hybrid environment (Mac/Windows)
* Familiarity with IT standards/policies
* Linux support experience |
