PURPOSE
Enhance and develop MEMS probe card technologies for semiconductor wafer test products by configuring, designing, and proposing technical solutions. This includes developing prototypes and initial products through customer qualification and transfer to Manufacturing Operations. The role requires understanding customer requirements to guide product development and deployment, analyzing the competitive space to contribute to product roadmaps, and conducting technical feasibility reviews for customer requests beyond current capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead new product design and manufacturing process development / integration efforts
  • Develop and validate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation methodologies for new and existing probe card technologies
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to build and validate prototypes and products through customer qualification
  • Define and drive internal characterization and reliability tests
  • Manage development programs using Product Life Cycle (PLC) methodology; define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Foster team collaboration between internal teams and business units



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED


  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering and development (MEMS, wafer test, microfabrication, semiconductor processing, high precision mechanical design)
  • Proficient in mechanical design using 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, CREO, AutoCAD)
  • Proficient in FEA using simulation software (e.g. ANSYS)
  • Strong knowledge of thermo-mechanical design principles, strength of materials, and material thermal properties
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and 8D problem-solving methodologies
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for serviceability (DFS) best practices is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills through experimental design and data analysis.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with experiments and data collection



The pay range for this role in Livermore, CA is between $163,400 and $214,410. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
