**Fully remote

The Outpatient Coder I role is responsible for accurate coding of all outpatient visits for statistical and billing purposes. Performs abstracting to determine accuracy and completeness of the outpatient record.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Associate's Degree in a Science field with completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Coding certification (CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or CPC-A credential required.
  3. Experience: Completion of the MH Coder I Apprenticeship program or one year experience coding in an outpatient setting using 3M Coding and/or Optum Reimbursement encoder required.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Demonstrated, applied knowledge of ICD and CPT coding guidelines and principles required.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
