Building Performance Analyst

The Building Performance Analyst role is tasked with developing building models to support architecture and engineering design. This role includes learning building modeling software, contributing to project design processes and understanding of architectural and engineering components. This role will collaborate with team members to ensure design accuracy and adherence to project requirements, fostering a supportive environment for knowledge sharing and skill development.

Typical duties:

  • Primarily working in modeling software such as IES, OpenStudio, Climate Studio, Rhino with Ladybug and Honeybee plug-ins, Tally LCA, or others to analyze climate and site and/or model building components and systems.
  • Comfortable navigating in Revit to extract information for use in developing building models.
  • Have an understanding of building components and systems to enable correct modeling.
  • Able to interpret and explain results of building models to design team for use in adjusting design features.
  • Have a working understanding of compliance requirements for state energy codes and sustainable rating systems (such as LEED)
  • Participate in mentorship relationships with senior engineers or architects to understand the "how" and "why" of high-performance design for the built environment.
  • Able to autonomously implement delegated design tasks
  • Able to check own work for issues to resolve prior to issuance.
  • Attend client meetings alongside the project designer/lead to collaborate on project requirements.
  • Estimate time required to complete tasks or assigned work.
  • Managing 20% of the time, Doing 80% of the time
  • General
    • Bachelor's degree in directly related field preferred. (Mechanical Engineering or Architecture)
    • Written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the position required.
    • Strong organizational skills preferred.
    • Modeling capability in at least one of the following software required.
      • IES
      • OpenStudio
      • Tally LCA
      • Rhino with Ladybug and Honeybee plug-ins
    • Experience with computers, specifically for word processing, spreadsheet use/creation and email required.
    • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and curious personalities preferred.
    • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations required.
