Description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Survey Field Technician 2 to work with the Florida Transportation Market Sector within our Transportation Business Unit. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team-oriented environment that will support professional growth and development.

General Characteristics



  • Has advanced field operations skills; possesses computer skills, good visual and hearing skills, follows procedures; good organizational skills; working in weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, etc.); works with safety in mind, must be flexible with work hours and willingness to travel up to 100% during the week days and occasional weekend travel and/or work, able to do physically demanding work; ability to lift and carry between 25 and 50 lbs. routinely; ability to walk for lengthy periods

  • 8+ Years of Experience


Education



  • H.S. Graduate


Technical Responsibilities



  • Strong technical skills, Leads effective safety talks, Able to plan the field activity to meet the needs of the client, able to coordinate with office personnel on group assignments, Able to conduct QMS on survey activity for group including horizontal and vertical measurement accuracy, advanced understanding of coordinate geometry, Must know survey nomenclature, thorough understanding of how to download or transfer files from the data collector, able to process data processor information, able to operate total stations, data collector, etc.; intermediate GPS/Survey skills; solid understanding of equipment usage including calibration, and care of delicate and expensive equipment; must be able to occasionally work at heights in certain environmental conditions, wade through water; ride in a boat; swimming skills (Preferred); ability to safely use hand tools, etc


Project and Task Management



  • May lead project tasks


Management Responsibility



  • Able to lead crews up to three other people or lead multiple crews; ability to train junior staff
  • Can work independently or lead crews when necessary


Communication Skills



  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills; interacts well with other staff, communicates effectively with clients, field representatives, able to motivate others, ability to function positively in a team environment, able to keep teams working harmoniously
