Job Summary

Under general direction, work primarily in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), which receives approximately 60,000 patients/year. This position is part of the small animal medicine service and will provide general internal medicine support and supervision for clinical cases and procedures. In addition, time will be dedicated to clinical student and house officer teaching.

RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after one week; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the apply by date.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Board certification (or residency trained) in Internal Medicine in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, or a College with ACVIM Associate Status.
  • Must be licensed in the State of California.
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree.
  • Experience in a busy, veterinary clinic or academic institution practicing high quality medicine.
  • Experience in performing procedures pertinent to the practice of Small Animal Medicine including arthrocentesis, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, endoscopic procedures involving the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urinary tract.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to engage effectively with diverse students, staff, clinicians, and clients and the skill to recognize and manage difficult situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in an academic institution.
  • Proficiency in performing procedures pertinent to the practice of Small Animal Medicine including arthrocentesis, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, endoscopic procedures involving the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urinary tract.

Work Environment
