Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and groundbreaking equine lameness diagnostic equipment, we are a center for animal healthcare.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant and Hospital Liaison to join our Equine service. Our facility, located at Clydesdale Hall, provides state-of-the-art teaching and medical services, including ambulatory services. In addition to regular check-ups and preventive health care, we feature cutting edge surgical and intensive lifesaving medical care.

This position is critical to the equine hospital as it serves a dual role of providing clinical support for procedures in the equine hospital as well as providing communication and service management support through regular client and referring veterinarian contact, documentation preparation, and scheduling.

Standard responsibilities will vary based on clinic needs, but may include:

• Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Assists with standing CT procedures, imaging procedures, regenerative therapy product preparation
  • Back up assistance for surgery or medicine procedures , equipment maintenance and repair
  • Participate in on call after hours on call emergency duty rotation
  • Provide assistance unloading or loading patients from the trailer, troubleshooting equipment repair, entering charges and assisting with clinical skills lab simulation model care.
• Hospital Liaison Responsibilities:
  • Help manage the large volume of calls that come into the front desk each day
  • Assist with client and referring veterinarian phone and email communications
  • Perform procedure scheduling, coggins/health certificate processing, and student block scheduling
• Other duties as assigned

This position requires on-call emergency duty and includes heavy lifting and physical work.

This position is a full-time, 40 hour a week position. Primary hours are Monday through Friday, 8a to 5p with some on-call emergency rotations that would include evenings and weekends.

High school diploma or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Previous experience working with horses or in an equestrian setting.

Hiring at $15.00 / hour plus on-call compensation
