Position Highlights

The Financial Analyst, Senior position supports the finance operations of the assigned Academic Departments and Centers, ensuring faculty and staff are assisted in a professional and timely manner. The position will be integrally involved in managing faculty and staff salary allocations and faculty distribution of effort, monitoring budgets, reconciling and analyzing UAccess employee, financials and analytic data to produce various departmental financial reports.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist finance team with fiscal responsibilities for UA and UA Foundation accounts within assigned Department(s)/Center(s), ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies and procedures. Responsibilities include reviewing and reconciling department chart of accounts against department expense authority, college, department, and sponsor budgets and UA systems.
  • Serve as an account delegate for UA and UA Foundation accounts, overseeing and reviewing financial and employee transactions in UAccess Systems; UAccess Employee, Financial, and Analytics.
  • Reconcile UA state, designated, sponsored, other restricted (gifts), and UA Foundation accounts utilizing University systems.
  • Initiate and process various transaction in the systems to rectify errors and/or changes related to personnel or operational changes.
  • Review, process, and approve day-to-day financial transactions in the UAccess Financial system and action list, including payment requests, disbursement vouchers, purchasing cards (P-Cards), travel authorizations and expense reports, internal billing invoices, general error corrections, and salary expense transfers. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with University, Sponsor, and UA Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Monitor internal and external commitments and expenditure. Assist in preparing reports, and create/manage funding plans.
  • Assist in the operationalization of grants and contracts, ensuring alignment with the contract budget and scope of work as determined by the sponsor. Responsibilities include updating funding plans, maintaining personnel budget workbooks, and initiating position distributions and salary expense transfers. Reconcile clinical faculty sponsored effort, and update their funding distribution calculator, distribution of effort workbook, and adjust monthly Banner invoice to ensure payment to Banner.
  • Set up electronic account files for department chart of accounts.
  • Assist the Financial Analyst III in generating various reports and providing explanations and recommendations for operational budget variances.
  • Manage daily communications by reviewing and responding to emails and voicemails from faculty, staff, other departments, and Department/Center leadership. Attend various department meetings to review financial reports, concerns, and questions.
  • Support the Administrative Operations Manager and Financial Analyst III team as needed with operational support and attending department meetings for assigned departments and/or centers.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to multi-task projects and daily assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience required.
