Assesses student development (academic, career, and personal) and promotes academic growth; assists students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals. Advises students on academic and career issues; identifies the educational and career options appropriate for each student and assists with the analysis of each option, including possible outcomes and their implications. Advises students on general education; identifies options for students to satisfy degree requirements; evaluates and makes recommendations on exceptions and adjustments to programs of study. Monitors academic progress of students; determines eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree; identifies current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g., study skills, tutoring) and refers students to appropriate campus resources for further assistance. Interprets and explains advising policies and procedures. Participates in preparation of orientations and presents academic information to new students and parents during orientation. Evaluates transfer credits from other academic institutions for equivalencies and application to degree program. Maintains student files, records, and database; documents all pertinent student information. Assists students in exploring research opportunities and scholarships. Processes degree checks/audits for students planning to graduate. Assists in the development and coordination of seminars, workshops, and other activities/events. Helps coordinate the annual EEB Undergraduate Research Poster Session and recruit EEB Undergraduate Ambassadors.
