Position Highlights The Stoner Lab at the University of Arizona's School of Natural Resources and the Environment is seeking to hire a remote part-time Research Technician II to analyze thermal camera videos, obtain bat colony counts, and maintains/organizes large datasets using Excel spreadsheets. Our research on migratory nectar-feeding bats takes place in the Chihuahuan Desert of southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona near the Mexico-U.S. border. More specifically, we study the three migratory nectivorous bats-the recently delisted lesser long-nosed bat (Leptonycteris yerbabuenae), the endangered Mexican long-nosed bat (Leptonycteris nivalis), and the data deficient Mexican long-tongued bat (Choeronycteris mexicana)-at a roost in the Big Hatchet Mountains and at various residential sites and preserves in NM & AZ. We also study their plant food source, agave plants. Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment.
