Position Description

The Manufacturing Design Engineer will develop detailed 3D CAD process models and process sketches of mechanical parts to be utilized during the machining development process. Other responsibilities could include solid modeling and drafting of cutting tools, fixturing and workholding, etc. This role is internal to our Manufacturing Engineering department and will support all areas of our machine shop. The Manufacturing Design Engineer will be supporting multiple projects/tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD process models of machined components
  • Create associated process sketches/prints to convey manufacturing intent
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers and CNC programmers on dimensional and process requirements specific to different part families/part types
  • Update existing models or sketches as a result of engineering changes (EC's)
  • Utilize solid models for commercially available hardware to build tooling and fixturing CAD assemblies
  • Support multiple concurrent projects
  • Promote designs to new versions of the software

Skills & Abilities

Required

  • Demonstrated 3D CAD modeling experience
  • Parametric solid modeling experience
  • Demonstrated drafting experience
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) industry standards and practices
  • Self-motivated and highly organized

Preferred

  • Siemens NX experience (SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro-E, or Catia acceptable)
  • AutoCad experience

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Design or CAD for Manufacturing processes - Associate Degree in related field preferred
  • Proficient in 3D parametric solid modeling (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro-E, or Catia)
  • Ability to create machined component drawings and assemblies
  • Ability to apply GD&T standards to process drawings and understand the manufacturing impact of the applied standards
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX software package is a plus (we will mentor the right candidate)

Compensation Details

Annual Salary: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00
