Job Description

PURPOSE ANDSCOPE:

The Manager, Advising Adult Education and Literacy is responsible for developing and assists in managing all Adult Education grant programs and literacy courses offered at multiple sites. Manages Continuing Education Adult Basic Education, Grant Funded GED, and ESL programs Develops processes and procedures for operation of the program. Responsible for program success through grant writing, program design, and development of community based partnerships. Leads educational strategies to improve ASE and facilitate the successful transition of adults to post-secondary education. Responsible for compliance with state curriculum mandates.

This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position fromone academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grantfunding. Professional Development for TWC, HGAC and LSCS is required by the deadline.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises the collection, input and timely reporting of student and staff data into the state's TEAMS database as required by funding agencies
  2. Plans and develops appropriate courses and curriculum for program, ensuring effective implementation, supervision, quality assurance and evaluation of program
  3. Keeps informed of and evaluates major trends in Adult Education training
  4. Develops and implements long-range planning of yearly activities for Adult Education program to ensure that required state measures are met
  5. Creates and implements schedule of course offerings consistent with student needs, approved courses, and contact hours; reviews and prepares semester schedules and other appropriate documents
  6. Uses appropriate data and information to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and makes recommendations to internal stakeholders for improvement
  7. Responsible for student recruitment, advisement, assessment, placement and follow-up
  8. Prepares monthly reports for Director of Adult Education & Literacy Grant
  9. Maintains liaison with area school districts, community-based organizations, and local workforce development agencies in adult education programs; actively promote relationships with community partners to service clients and increase enrollment
  10. Recruits, hires, evaluates, and directly supervises adjunct faculty/instructors who teach in AEL Continuing Education
  11. Performs research relevant to area of specialty. Develops, monitors and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases, reports, and presents findings to internal constituents; assists with grants reporting
  12. Supervises, schedules and prioritizes work and activities, develops and organizes training materials for direct reports
  13. Coordinates and assists with managing various department and management calendars and schedules. Plans, and coordinates various meetings/seminars/events, including site selection and preparation, marketing and training materials, and general support
  14. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in program development
  • Experience in budget monitoring
Salary

Hiring salary range is $63,014-$72,466

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
