The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one full-time, 12-month, non-tenure earning clinical assistant or associate professor and Family Nurse Practitioner Program Director in the Department of Nursing Practice. This position will be located on the UCF Health Sciences Campus in Lake Nona and is expected to begin Fall 2025.

This position leads the program/specialty faculty team, student engagement, and delivery of high-quality education. The director will facilitate programmatic/specialty strategic initiatives with faculty, staff, students, alumni, practice partners, and the community. The role includes serving on or leading various school, university, and professional committees, advisory groups, taskforces, or projects as appropriate.

Responsibilities include:


  • Provide the vision for and academic leadership of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.

  • Lead, plan, implement, revise, and evaluate curricula to meet and exceed CCNE accreditation standards.

  • Facilitate student recruitment, admissions, advisement, clinical placement, progression, and remediation.

  • Collaborate with department chairs, faculty, and peers in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum.

  • Teach didactic, clinical, and simulation across programs.

  • Advise and chair studentDNPprojects.

  • Partners with the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs for clinical partnerships, clinical sites/preceptor evaluation, and to secure and provide oversight for the student clinical placement process.

  • Evaluate and maintain program accreditation and outcome documentation and reports.

  • Manage daily issues that emerge with student progression.

  • Evaluate and advance student outcomes - didactic and clinical.

  • Partners with other NP program track directors to ensure high-quality programming.

  • Service (and leadership, depending on rank) on department, college, and university committees.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a health-related related field from an accredited institution by date of hire.

  • Graduate degree in nursing (master's in nursing if non-nursing doctorate degree) at the time of application.

  • Family Nurse Practitioner certification.

  • Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure is expected by the date of hire, with an upgrade to multi-status within the first semester of the contract.

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license. Florida licensure is expected by the date of hire.

  • At least 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (within the past 5 years).

  • Recent experience with nursing students as an instructor (last three years) or consistently engaged preceptor (majority of semesters in the last two years) in Family Practice.

  • Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by date of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 5 years of recent clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

  • Recent experience teaching graduate-level students in didactic, clinical, and/or simulation.

  • Experience advising and/or chairing DNP projects.

  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Nursing practice specialty (CCRN, CEN, etc.) credential.

  • CertifiedHealthcareSimulationEducator (CHSEcertification).

  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate instructional technologies in the classroom.

  • Recent experience in teaching using online platforms (within the past 3 years).

  • Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations).

  • Active participation in community and/or professional organizations.
